Hearing Products

We use hearing aids from several manufacturers. We believe this allows us to offer a wide range of products with diverse features. Through our years in practice our choice of manufacturers has changed many times. We add (or remove) manufacturers from our practice based on product quality, customer service, reliability, diversity of features and cost. One of our important tasks is to determine which products are likely to be successful. Unfortunately, not all new products are improvements over previous technology. We evaluate new instruments carefully and introduce them slowly to our practice so that we are able to find if they really measure up.

Technology

We use both analog and digital hearing aids. Computerized hearing aids came into use in the mid 1990’s. They have gradually improved their performance and now represent over 90% of the hearing aids we use. However, in specific cases analog hearing aids may be an appropriate choice and continue to remain an option.

Style
Style of hearing aid really refers to how the instrument looks. Usually there is more than one style of hearing aid that is appropriate for your hearing loss. The choice depends on the type of hearing loss and your preferences. We explore the advantages and disadvantages of the various styles with you. The following images show how different styles of hearing aids look on a typical ear. Click on images below for a larger example.
